Dr. Lapid-Bogda earned her B.A. from the University of California,
Berkeley in 1968, M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971,
and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1978.
In addition, she is a trained Gestalt therapist and a graduate of
Columbia University’s Advanced OD Program.
In her role as a faculty member at such institutions as University
of California, Los Angeles, Antioch University, and Sonoma State
University, Dr. Lapid-Bogda teaches courses in leadership, organizational
behavior, organizational change, and consulting skills. As an invited
speaker, she has made presentations at numerous professional conferences
for organizations that include the Center for Creative Leadership,
Organization Research and Development, the Organization Development
Network, and the Association for Training and Development. In 1991,
the American Management Association awarded Dr. Lapid-Bogda a “10
Best Speakers Award” for her speech, “Managing Complex
Change.”
A contributing author to books and a sought-after writer for professional
journals and magazines, Dr. Lapid-Bogda is most recently the author
of the chapter, ”OD Interventions or Help! What Do I Do Now?”
which appears in Organization Development: Perspectives and
Foundations (Jossey-Bass, 2002). In addition, she has published
many articles on the topic of diversity, including “Diversity
and Organizational Change” (Jossey-Bass/Pfeiffer 1998
Consulting Annual) and “Charlie, We’ve Got a Problem”
(Across the Board, 1994).
Dr. Lapid-Bogda also writes on the subject of organizational power
and politics. For her article “Judge Your Company’s
Politics Before You Climb Aboard,” published in the National
Business Employment Weekly, Dr. Lapid-Bogda received the “Best
10 Articles of 1991” award. She is also featured in the commercial
video, Improving Workplace Gender Culture, available through
Missouri Western Library.
Her recent book, Bringing Out the Best In Yourself at Work:
How to Use the Enneagram System for Success (McGraw-Hill, 2004),
has received critical acclaim from organization development consultants
and internationally recognized Enneagram teachers. In this groundbreaking
book, Dr. Lapid-Bogda describes how to integrate organization development
theory and practice with the wisdom of the Enneagram, an ancient
and profound personality system, to help people in organizations
improve communication, provide effective performance feedback, manage
conflict constructively, develop leadership capability, and create
high-performing teams.
